Working Together to end child marriage and Teenage Pregnancies - Culture, Human Rights and Accountability.

Working Together to end Child Marriage and Teenage Pregnancies. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to colliding pandemics with HIV/AIDS. The duo has impacted all aspects of life. The former has disrupted education, health, incomes and has exposed young girls to teenage pregnancies and child marriages. Government of Uganda and partners such as World Vision have made to eliminate all forms of violence against the girl child. However, COVID-19 has undone a lot of achievements towards that direction. More so, the closure of schools has placed the young girls in the jaws of sexual predators. Therefore the National Girls Summit, under the theme, “Working together to end child marriage and teenage pregnancies  - culture, Human rights and Accountability,” brought together young girls, women, Government and civil society actors, through the National Alliance of Girls Not Brides Uganda, to share about the difficulties that have been wrought unto them in the communities. “The fourth National Girl’...

Orange the world; End Teenage Pregnacies Now

Orange the World: End Teenage Pregnancies Now.   The 16 Days of Activism are a stretch of time in which we can, as we have always done, advocate against and hope to see an end of violence against women. All violence against women is packaged in its worst of forms. Violence against children and more so against the girl child is not different. The rate of teenage pregnancies in Uganda currently stands at between 25 - 30 % up fr...

why would beings, that are equally human, be unequal in the face of HIV/AIDS?

WHY WOULD BEINGS, THAT ARE EQUALLY HUMAN, BE UNEQUAL IN THE FACE OF HIV/AIDS ? Could the pandemics be playing an equal and united role in a ‘fight against’ unequal divided human race?  Are the pandemics and epidemics beating humans, the summits of creation and upright conscious, on what would have been the human mastery of union and equality?  Are humans, who in my short life so far have seen  leading ethnic cleansing , racial divides and hoarding vaccines,   ready for an equal and united world against HIV/AIDS ? Would I be right to be comfortable when the tents around my castle are burning? Of course not; I would be worse than the biblical rich fool. Even if I burned last, I would be burnt by a similar fire. Would it be wrong to think that the rich and poor have more and less lives respectively than the other? Very wrong indeed. No upright logic would justify the  shorter lives  of either but rather why all should live healthily and access the minimum heal...
